Real Betis 2-3 Real Madrid

Trying their best to keep their 10-point advantage over Barcelona, Real Madrid walked into the pitch wearing their red jersey, which has proven to be quite lucky so far this season as they have won every game so far while wearing it.

The starting lineup for Real Madrid consisted of: Iker Casillas, Alvaro Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gonzalo Higuain.

As the men in White (or, in this instance, red) started off the game, things didn't seem to click. They weren't playing the as we are all used to seeing as their passes went astray and losing the ball in the final third. Things went from bad to worse after only 10 minutes as Jorge Molina was able to get the opening goal after some bad defending. Real Madrid kept on trying but things really weren't going their way until Mesut Ozil gave a great overhead pass to Gonzalo Higuain who was able to get a great individual goal 25 minutes into the game. The first half ended in a draw and Real Madrid knew they needed to step it up in the second half since Real Betis were playing a great game.

The main talking point at the beginning of the second half was the sudden referee change, as it could possibly start many talks and theories as to why it happened. The reason given (which is a big possibility) is that the original referee of the game was suffering from a cramp and wasn't really able to continue in the second half.

Only seven minutes into the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal which could have been the beginning to Real Madrid controlling the game as they have done so many times before but Real Betis weren't willing to let that happen as a dreadful mistake by Alvaro Arbeloa gave Jefferson Montero the chance to score an equalizer on the 55th minute.

As the game wore on, both teams kept trying and there were a couple fouls that went unpunished for both teams. The two biggest talking points though would have to be a penalty for both teams. Kaka was tackled inside the box, which I guess could have gone either way but a clear handball by Xabi Alonso went unpunished and it just seems like he got lucky on the day. Cristiano Ronaldo was finally able to score the winner of the game after 73 minutes to end the game 3-2 to the visitors.

It was a game that was much tougher than many expected and Real Betis showed great determination to fight for some points but Real Madrid were the team to walk out with three points in the end.
