Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Real Madrid

The stage was set, San Mames. The fans were there prepared to watch history in the making. The fans who stayed back in Madrid were preparing a celebration at the famous Cibeles. Everything was ready for Real Madrid to win their 32nd league title. And Real Madrid did not disappoint.

Jose Mourinho has decided to make a couple changes to his starting lineup: Iker Casillas, Alvaro Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao, Sami Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Mesut Ozil, Jose Callejon, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Gonzalo Higuain.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed an early penalty (his first of the La Liga season) but that did not shake Real Madrid one bit as they kept on attacking and were able to open the scoring after a sensational strike by Gonzalo Higuain after 16 minutes. Ronaldo was able to make up for his penalty miss with an amazing assist to Mesut Ozil, who was able to make it 2-0 to the visitors after 20 minutes. Both teams kept trying, with Athletic Bilbao hitting the post and Iker Casillas making some unbelievable saves to end the first half 2-0 to Real Madrid.

Getting back onto the pitch for the second half, it seemed as though the game never stopped. Los Merengues kept their attacking threat alive and were able to make it 3-0 after a Ronaldo header on the 50th minute. After that, things slowly starting to calm down as Real Madrid were pretty much guaranteed the win and didn't want to take any unnecessary risks.

Then the moment that everyone was waiting for happened. The whistle to end the game and crown Real Madrid as the La Liga Champions of 2012. They celebrated on the pitch and all the smiles and celebrations showed how hard they worked throughout this season to get what they deserved. A great win at a great stadium.

Jose Mourinho has now one the League title in four different countries: Portugal (Porto), England (Chelsea), Italy (Inter Milan), and now Spain with Real Madrid.

Cibeles is waiting for the major celebrations to begin...

CAMPEONES!!!!!!! HALA MADRID!
