Granada 1-2 Real Madrid

In a match which many people hope will be forgotten, Real Madrid walked onto the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes with the Pasillo from the Granada players.

Since Real Madrid have officially been crowned champions against Athletic Bilbao during their last game, Jose Mourinho decided to switch around the starting lineup: Antonio Adan, Raul Albiol, Raphael Varane, Ricardo Carvalho, Marcelo, Nuri Sahin, Esteban Granero, Kaka, Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema.

The first half was horrible for Real Madrid as Franco Jara was able to get the opening goal for Granada after only five minutes. They also had many chances to score as Real Madrid seemed lost and very unmotivated. Nothing really came out of the first half for them as any opportunities were easily dealt with by the Granada back-line and any chances were wasted by Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho was not at all happy with what he saw and decided to make two substitutions at half time. He took off Nuri Sahin and Kaka and put in Xabi Alonso and Gonzalo Higuain.

Real Madrid were more of a threat in the second half but were nothing compared to their usual selves. Cristiano Ronaldo was finally able to open the scoring with a penalty on the 81st minute. For those last few minutes, Real Madrid finally seemed dangerous and motivated to try and get the winner. The winner came on the 92nd minute from an own goal by David Cortes which ended the game 2-1 to the visitors.

In all fairness, Granada deserved at least a point coming out of this game but were very unlucky to walk out with nothing. They now need a point at least in their last game against Rayo Vallecano to make sure they can stay in the top flight next season.

As for Real Madrid, they have one more game left next weekend against Real Mallorca and, if they win that game, they will have a record 100 Points in La Liga!
