We need this now more than ever...

Tonight Barcelona will be hosting Real Madrid at the Camp Nou for the second leg of the Copa del Rey Quarter Finals. During the past year, we have experienced many types of controversies surrounding the Clasico. And, this kind of goes without saying, Real Madrid were on the "winning side" of it all just once.

Last week, for the first leg of the Cup, the Santiago Bernabeu witnessed yet another loss for their beloved team. Barcelona won the game 2-1 with goals from Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal to cancel out Cristiano Ronaldo's early goal.

Being the current holders of this Cup, Real Madrid should (and I'm really hoping they would) fight for this win. They need it to restore order in the Spanish Capital, they really do. Just when we thought that we have seen all kinds of things coming from the media, little could be surprised to see that there is more in this. And they have officially taken it to a whole new level.

After vaguely "researching" the teams that Jose Mourinho usually fields, they realized something: Mourinho prefers the Portuguese players over the Spanish. Yes, this talk was also in action earlier in the season but no one really minded what exactly was going through his mind as long as he can do one thing: Beat Barcelona. So far, in the two tests he's had this season, Real Madrid have failed to deliver losing 3-1 and 2-1; going in the lead BOTH times.

The media are unhappy with Mourinho, the fans are unhappy, the members of the board are unhappy, the players are unhappy. That is what the magazines and newspapers are trying to convince people but please, see it this way:

Jose Mourinho arrived at Real Madrid with goals to, let's keep it as simple as we can, bring the silverware home. Before he arrived, Real Madrid were clearly second best to Barcelona, they were getting knocked out of the Copa del Rey against second division teams such as Alcorcon, they have not made it to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League in years.

Mourinho walks in and brings his years of experiencing with him. During his first season in charge, the difference was massive! Yes, Barcelona were still miles ahead in the Liga but we were still quite close. We won the Copa del Rey for the first time in many years after beating Barcelona 1-0 in the final. We made it past the second round by beating our "Champions League Rivals" Olymique Lyon but crashed out of the semi-finals against the Catalans in a very close encounter.

Now, halfway through the second season, Real Madrid are five points ahead of Barcelona in the league which is what Jose Mourinho is fighting for the most and has made it clear that this is his target this year. Also, in the Champions League, we are in the second round against CSKA Moscow after making a record of wins in the group stages. As for the Copa del Rey, they are in the quarter finals, in the second round against Barcelona.

So, we really aren't doing too badly! Yes, it is completely understandable that beating Barcelona is an integral part of our plan but right now, we have to accept the fact that this just isn't happening. We need to be patient and realize how much this team has been growing in the past couple years. We need to keep supporting the team no matter what.

We need this win now more than ever so that we can restore order at the "White House" and go back to doing what we are known for: Winning.
