Real Madrid 5-1 Ponferradina (7-1 Agg)

This was a day to remember for many Real Madrid players and fans as the second leg of the Copa Del Rey was played.

Jose Mourinho decided to rest many of his players such as Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Iker Casillas and Gonzalo Higuain. Jorge Casado was able to make his debut in the first team as left-back and had a pretty good game.

The game started off well as Real Madrid were trying to increase their advantage, which Jose Callejon was able to get on the 25th minute. Right before half time, Nuri Sahin scored his first ever goal for the first team. It is also the first time he's ever scored a header!

As the second half started, the game looked to be more intense as Raphael Varane was able to score in the 49th minutes as Esteban Granero's free-kick was rebounded off the goalkeeper. Only five minutes later, it was a moment to remember for Ponferradina as Acoran scored to reduce the deficit to 3-1. Joselu came onto the pitch as the fans were all chanting his name. One minute later, on the 79th minute, Joselu scored his first ever senior goal with his first touch on the pitch.

Jose Callejon kept proving why he should be playing more often as he made it 5-1 after a great pass by Sahin on the 88th minute.

Now as Real Madrid are off for two weeks, this week was a great way to end 2011 as they beat Sevilla 6-2 and now Ponferradina 5-1. They broke the record of the most goals scored in a year by a Spanish team with 167 goals. Real Madrid are first in La Liga, made it comfortably to the next round of the Copa Del Rey, and, after getting first place in the Champions League group, they are in the round of 16 against CSKA Moskva. Hopefully they'll be able to keep this going throughout the rest of the season.
